Gardeners Beware!

Gardeners Beware!

With any activity that you do, one of the most important factors in preventing injury is load management and gardening is no different.

If your body is only used to doing something every now and then, then all of a sudden due to a change in circumstances you are doing it more often, certain tissues may become overloaded and cause pain or injury. This includes actions you may do when gardening like shovelling, weeding, planting etc.

The easy solution is to vary your activity throughout the day so that your body has time to adapt. Break tasks down and set smaller goals for the day e.g weeding a certain patch only, then shovelling for a set time etc. That way you can get your garden projects sorted without annoying niggles getting in the way!

If you’re reading this a little too late, see a physio and get on to those niggles asap so you can get back to it! To find a physio in your area of Australia or New Zealand click here.
